Oxford University's Bodleian Libraries Choose Aleph Integrated Library System from Ex LibrisThe system's rich core functionality and proven capabilities in handling very large collections were major factors in the selection of Aleph
London, UK – January 13, 2010. Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that the Bodleian Libraries of the University of Oxford recently selected the Ex Libris Aleph® integrated library system (ILS) to replace the university’s GEAC Advance system. The efficient, sophisticated tools and workflow support that Aleph provides enables over 2200 academic, research, and national libraries around the world—and now also the Bodleian Libraries—to meet the rapidly changing needs of the global research community. Using built-in tools, libraries can configure the Aleph system to support virtually any library organization, policies, and workflows. This flexibility, providing the Bodleian Libraries with the tools to build a library system that corresponds to the university’s unique needs, proved a major factor in their selection of Aleph. “After an intensive evaluation process we concluded that only Aleph could deliver the robust functionality that we required, in conjunction with the sophistication to deal with the devolved federal structure of our collegiate library system,” Dr Sarah Thomas, Bodley’s Librarian, noted. “The proven ability of Ex Libris to deliver large projects on schedule and on budget was a further decisive factor for us. Having worked closely with Ex Libris for several years, we feel that our vision for the future is aligned with the Company’s long-term strategy,” Dr Thomas added. “We are delighted that the Bodleian Libraries have chosen Aleph to manage their outstanding library collections,” commented Matti Shem Tov, president and CEO of Ex Libris. “It is a pleasure to continue our collaboration with Oxford, which currently runs a number of Ex Libris solutions. The success of the “SOLO:Search Oxford Libraries Online” system, powered by Primo, which provides a single discovery and delivery interface for a huge range of library collections, has paved the way for this exciting new project.” About the Bodleian Libraries
